Web of Flavors: Sink Your Spoon Into a Fun Halloween Soup

This soup turns humble vegetables into something a little fun. A swirl of cream on top transforms into a playful spiderweb, adding a touch of Halloween flair. It’s cozy, kid-friendly, and secretly packed with veggies.

Spiderweb Vegetable Soup

Serves 6

Ingredients

4 carrots, peeled and cut into chunks
4 onions, peeled and cut into chunks
2 potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
6 garlic cloves, minced
5 cups chicken stock
2 cups water
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons black pepper
½ cup heavy cream, for garnishing

Directions

Set a large pot over medium heat.

Place the carrots, onions, potatoes, garlic, chicken stock, and water into the pot. Bring the liquid to a boil, then reduce the heat to a simmer. Simmer the vegetables, stirring occasionally, for about 40 minutes, or until they are soft. Then, season the soup with salt and pepper, and stir.

Turn off the heat. Using a hand blender, carefully puree the soup to the desired consistency. Divide the soup evenly into cups or small bowls.

Pour the heavy cream into an empty food-grade squeeze bottle. Starting in the center of the soup, squeeze out the heavy cream to create a small circle. Continue making circles with the heavy cream, moving it out toward the edge of the cup or bowl, about 4 or 5 circles, depending on the size of the cup or bowl. Once you’ve finished the circles, use a skewer to draw a line through the soup from the center to the edge of the cup or bowl. Continue doing this around the bowl until you have completed your spiderweb pattern.
