These hearty meatball sandwiches combine the convenience of frozen, fully cooked meatballs with your favorite marinara sauce and melted mozzarella or provolone cheese, all nestled in sub rolls. It’s the perfect way to serve comfort food without spending hours in the kitchen.
Prepare frozen meatballs according to package directions.
Preheat the oven to 400ºF.
Place the sub rolls onto a sheet pan and open the rolls with the insides of the rolls face up. Drizzle olive over the rolls. Generously season the rolls with basil, garlic powder, and oregano. If you like heat, sprinkle red pepper flakes onto the rolls. Season the rolls with salt and black pepper. Place the sub rolls into the oven and bake for about 5 minutes or until the bread is crisped. Remove from the oven.
Spread 1 tablespoon of marinara on the bottom bun of each sub roll. Sprinkle some of the grated parmesan cheese on top of the marinara. Place 4 meatballs onto each of the bottom buns. Evenly divide the remaining marinara on top of the meatballs. Evenly divide the shredded mozzarella or provolone on top of the meatballs. Place the meatball sub sandwiches back into the oven and bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 3 to 5 minutes.
