Tater Tot Casserole: A Family Favorite

When cabin fever starts creeping in, this classic comfort food can start a night of board games and family competition. A cozy combination of golden-brown tater tots, seasoned beef, and melty cheese sets the stage for warm memories on even the coldest winter nights.

Tater Tot Casserole

Ingredients

1 ½ pounds ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
Salt, to season
Black pepper, to season
1 (32 oz) bag frozen tater tots
2 (10.75 oz) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 ⅓ cups milk
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Directions

Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Spray a 9 x 13-inch pan with nonstick cooking spray.

Cook the beef and onion over medium heat in a large skillet until the meat is just browned. Drain the meat mixture; discard the fat.

Season the meat mixture with salt and pepper, then spoon into the prepared baking dish. Top the meat mixture with tater tots.

Place the soup and milk in a medium bowl and whisk. Pour the soup mixture over the tater tots, then sprinkle with cheese. Bake, uncovered, for 40 minutes.
