Grilled BBQ-Honey Drumsticks

Serves 8

For the Sauce
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon garlic powder
¼ cup brown sugar
2 teaspoons Dijon-style mustard
½ cup ketchup
½ cup honey
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon vinegar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
2 tablespoons water

For the Chicken
16-18 chicken drumsticks

For the Sauce

Set a saucepan over medium-high heat. Place the paprika, garlic powder, brown sugar, mustard, ketchup, honey, soy sauce, vinegar, vegetable oil, and water in the heated saucepan. Stir ingredients, then bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low; cook and stir the sauce for about 5 minutes or until the sauce is bubbly and thick. Remove the saucepan from the heat; set aside to cool.

For the Chicken

Prepare grill with one side at high heat and the other side at medium. While grill is preheating, coat grill grates with oil. Grill drumsticks for 15 minutes over high heat, then grill for 15 minutes over medium heat until internal temperature reaches 165ºF. Generously baste the drumsticks with the sauce. Grill drumsticks for 1 minute, then turn over and grill for 1 minute more. Serve remaining sauce with the drumsticks.
