Quiche: An Easy, Delicious Dinner

Put a hot, hearty meal on the dinner table with quiche. This simple recipe is easy to assemble and can be enhanced with additional ingredients such as sautéed vegetables. If you have quiche leftovers, you can enjoy it the next day for lunch or dinner or freeze for later.

Ham and Cheese Dinner Quiche

Serves 8


For Crust
1 deep dish frozen pie crust

For Filling
1 tablespoon butter
½ medium sweet or yellow onion, chopped
4 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup half and half
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1 ½ cups diced ham
1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, plus more for topping quiche


For Crust
Blind bake the frozen pie crust according to package directions.

For Filling
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Place butter in a small nonstick skillet set over medium heat. When the butter has melted add onion to skillet; stir and cook until translucent. Remove skillet from heat and allow onion to cool a little bit.

Place eggs, half and half, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl; whisk until combined. Put cooled onions, ham, and cheeses in bowl with whisked eggs; stir to combine. Pour the egg mixture into pie crust. Sprinkle extra shredded cheddar cheese on top of the filling.

Place the quiche on a baking sheet and set the baking sheet on the middle oven rack. Bake until set, about 40 to 45 minutes. Note: If the edge of the crust starts to get too brown, you can cover the edge with foil to keep it from burning. Serve.
